Details of Workshops 2014-15

Faculty Improvement programme

• Teachers attend in-service courses, workshops & seminars to update their teaching methodologies and to keep themselves abreast of the progress made in their respective faculties. All the teachers have undergone Basic Computer Training conducted by Master Trainers of INTEL—Teach To the Future Programme.

Conferences Attended by Teachers

• The Principal attended an International Conference in collaboration with Australian Council for Educational research and Sahodaya School Complexes (Gurgaon Chapter). The theme of the conference was “Development in assessment: Scope of assessment in teaching and learning”
• Our English teacher Smt. Sujatha Nambiar attended an International Seminar “New pedagogies for new times” jointly organized by UGC and London Metropolitan University, UK, at St. Teresas College Cochin.
  Training Programme
• Mr. Raju B of Physical Education Department attended the Evaluation and Training Programme for Physical Education Teachers of C B S E organized by the Dept. of Teacher Education, Lakshmibai National University of Physical Education, Gwalior from 1st June 2010 to 15th June 2010.
• Susmitha Shenoy attended a training programme by Computer Society of India and CUSAT on new syllabus discussion on the Informatics practices Standard XII.
• Shantha E.P. (Vice Principal) Leena V.K. Menon, Geetha K. Sobhalatha, Elizabeth Isaac, attended a training programme on CCE Ms. Niharika at Bhavan’s Eroor.

Workshop Attended

• Our Principal Smt.Nirmala Venkateswaran and Mr. Rajmohan Varma attended a workshop on Climate Change conducted by Association of British Scholars, Kochi on Feb 23, 2011 at Sacred Heart’s College, Thevara.
• Our teachers Ms.Leena V K Menon, Ms.Sobhalatha, Ms.Geetha K, Ms. Cismi Poulose, Ms. Elizabeth Issac, Ms. Priya Nair and Ms. Parvathy Krishnan attended a 2 day Workshop on Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation conducted by Education Quality Foundation of India from 21st May 2010 to 22nd May 2010.
• Ms. Jyothi Pradeep , HOD, Physics Dept, attended a National Workshop on innovative Physics teaching conducted by IIT, Kanpur A workshop for English teachers was conducted by Macmillan on July 2, 2010 at our school. All teachers of the English Dept. attended the workshop.
• Ms.Geetha K, Ms.Usha S and Ms.Rinku Guha from Hindi Dept. attended a workshop conducted by Madhuban on July 7, 2010.
• Ms. Limi Jose, Ms. Soumya Menon, and Ms. Sunitha S Nair, attended a workshop on “Innovations in Pedagogical Approaches to Secondary and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at Toc-H Institute of Science and Technology, Arakkunam on Oct 22, and Oct 23, 2010.
• Ms. Minnie Ravindran and Ms. Shanti Ramachandran attended a workshop on “Developing Thinking Skills and Assessment for Learning” conducted by The Achievers Program(TAP),Chandigarh on Jan 7, and 8, 2011 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Auditorium, T D Road, Kochi.
• Buvanadasi K.G., Vinish P. attended a workshop on Art &Craft arranged by Shikshan Bharathi at BVB Auditorium.
• Raju B & Shiny Azweez, Vally attended a workshop for yoga arranged by Shikshan Bharathi at BVM.
• Rinku Guha attended a Hindi workshop by Madhupan Publication at Bhavan’s Munshi Vidyashram

Development Programmes attended by Teachers

• EDUCOMP workshop for all teachers of BVB,Kochi Kendra held at BVM, Girinagar.
• Oxford University Press conducts a workshop for English teachers.
• English workshop held at Bhavans Elammakkara attended by five English teachers. The resource person was Ms. Saroja, Principal ,Delta Study ,Fortkochi.
• Economics workshop conducted by CBSE at Trivandrum attended by staff Ms.Rosemol.
• English workshop organized by ABS, Kochi attended by Ms.Sujatha, Ms. Pratiba and Mr. Radioman. The sessions were conducted by renowned teachers of English who provided insights into innovative teaching methodology, the relevance of English in the present day scenario and the role of the English teacher in bringing about a positive change in English language learning.
• Ms. Jyothi and Ms. Bismi attended a workshop conducted by VSSC at Thiruvananthapuram.
• Ms. Indu and Mr. Satish attended a maths workshop at Bhavans Eroor.
• Principal attends a Master Training Programme conducted by CBSE on continuous and comprehensive evaluation and ongoing examination reforms at Delhi.
• Sahodaya workshop on the new educational reforms held at Hotel Taj attended by Madam Principal and Madam Vice Principal.
• Vice Principal attends a week long workshop on school management and administration at Bhavans Sawan Public School at Delhi.
• Vice Principal attends a workshop conducted by the publishers of ‘ i discover i’ at Avenue Regent.
• Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation Workshop for teachers handling Std IX was held at Viswajyothi Public School, Angamali. Ms. Radha, Ms. Rathi and Ms. Indu attended the same.
• TERI-Energy and Research Institute conducted an Educators Conference-A road to sustainable school-a 3day conference at Delhi. Ms. Sobalatha and Ms. Pratiba attended the same.
• Madam Principal was selected as member of the academic inspection team for inspection of the academic activities at JNV –Neriyamangalam.
• Hindi teachers attended a workshop at Munshi Vidyashram, Tripoonithura.
• Ms. Minnie Ravindran and Ms. Parvathi Krishnan attend an English workshop by Cambridge University at International Hotel.
• Ms. Radha and Ms. Rathi attended an English workshop by Ratnasagar Publishers at Presidency Hotel.
• Workshop on Yoga held at Bhavans Elammakkara attended by Ms. Valli.
• Workshop on Positive thinking was held for teachers.
• A workshop on teacher-empowerment, a BRITISH COUNCIL and ABS KOCHI INITIATIVE, served as a Communication Skills Enhancement Programme for English Teachers. The resource person was Dr. Michael Richards Emeritus Professor of English and Communication, Southampton Solent University and Visiting Professor at international universities, with three decades of teaching experience in the UK
